Creating + teaching Art

I am an artist and art educator specializing in painting and two-dimensional design. My passion for creating and sharing art with others fuels my creative process. In addition to leading a high school Fine Arts program, I pursue my own art by creating portraits in oil paint that combine my love of music, realism, and all things design.

Combining my passion for music and art is an invigorating process, where the end result is an iconic musician staring back at you, surrounded by colors and patterns that echo their persona. In these portraits, I aim to capture the human, candid side of musical icons who we typically see behind a mic or instrument, hidden under bright lights on a stage. Each musician portrait portrays candid poses that allow the viewer to connect with the musician on a personal level.

The backgrounds in each painting add to the personality of each portrait, reflecting the era and genre of each musician's work. Each background features unique patterns and color arrangements, creating a backdrop for each musician that reflects the feeling of their music that we admire and know so well.
